Quieting the Mind ~ Your Secret Self…

Remember that the worse case scenario probably won’t come to pass…

Racing thoughts—fast, repetitive thought patterns about a particular topic—are a common feature of anxiety and other mental-health disorders. But they can happen any time you are in an anxious or stressed state, even if you are not experiencing other symptoms.

Racing thoughts may be replays of past events which generated anxiety or sadness for you. They may also be worries about things that could happen in the future. They are strings of thoughts that are blown out of proportion, have a pattern, consume time, and often have no rational conclusion.

They can look like this:

“I always forget what I have to do. I’m so stupid. If I don’t remember everything, I’ll get fired. I don’t know what I’ll do if that happens. I should have taken that job I was offered six months ago. If I lose my job, I won’t have any money. I need to work longer hours to keep this job. That just makes me more depressed. I’m so miserable. What am I going to do?”

When thoughts like these flood your mind, they drain your energy, stop you from living in the present moment, and can create a loop in your brain that feels difficult to escape. They can also make it harder to concentrate and accomplish daily tasks, and impair your memory and sleep.

Having racing thoughts is often disturbing and frightening because it creates a sense of being out of control. But having racing thoughts does not mean you’re out of control or crazy. It does mean that you are anxious and that your stress level is higher than usual.

Here are some ways you can work to calm your mind and stop racing thoughts:

1. Use cognitive distancing.

Our mind usually worries about things it is convinced are true but, most of the time, are actually not true. You can balance your mind’s tendency to predict the worst outcome by coming up with positive alternative scenarios. For instance, your spouse seems distant and is sending out a lot of emails. You decide he must be having an affair. An alternative scenario: He is working extra hard on a project. Analyze what’s most likely to happen. Most of the time, the worst-case scenario your brain comes up with is not the most likely one.

2. Use a mantra.

A mantra is just a simple phrase or word that you repeat to calm your mind. Research has shown that repeating a mantra reduces activity in the part of your brain that is responsible for self-judgment and reflection. This is the part of the brain that spends so much time rehashing the past and worrying about the future. You can use any word, sound, or saying you want. You could try something like, “Om,” “Life is good,” or “Everything is OK.” Repeat your phrase over and over, focusing your thoughts only on your mantra. If your mind wanders, return to your mantra. You can practice this almost anytime, even going around the supermarket or on your commute home from work.

3. Focus on the present.

Returning your focus to the present will help you accept and let go of what you cannot control. It will also help you realize that you can’t change the past, and that the future hasn’t happened yet, so it’s a waste of time to keep thinking about them. (This doesn’t mean that you are unaware of what happened in the past or what is about to happen in the future.) Try taking a deep breath and asking yourself how you are feeling right now.

In the video below Teal Swan breaks down how to stop thinking or stop thought all together? Are you over thinking about negative things or about someone too much? Stopping thought relates to quieting the mind and focusing on a specific subject.

4. Write things down.

Putting your concerns on paper allows you to return to them later. You don’t have to dismiss them entirely, and you can feel comfortable knowing you will revisit the concern. Also, the act of writing engages your mind and reduces the power of racing thoughts. When thoughts are in your mind, they feel chaotic. Putting them on paper organizes them. Use a notebook or a designated computer document. Once you’ve taken a few minutes to organize your thoughts on paper or onscreen, your mind should be calmer. If you want, set aside a time limit for thinking about them before taking a break and coming back to them later.

5. Breathe.

This shifts the fight-or-flight response of your sympathetic nervous system to the relaxed response of the parasympathetic nervous system. Try counting to 3 as you breathe in and to 5 as you breathe out. Pay attention only to your breathing as you try to slow it down. Your mind will wander, but just bring it back to your breathing. (See more tips on breathing exercises here.)

It takes time to develop new habits. Whichever of these tools you use, it will take regular practice over a long period of time to see results. Unfortunately, many people expect the effects to be immediate and abandon the practice too soon. Instead, be consistent and patient.

The year we took back our Sovereignty ~ 2016

By Carla B.

According to Wikipedia, Sovereignty is understood in jurisprudence as the full right and power of a governing body to govern itself without any interference from outside sources or bodies. In political theory, sovereignty is a substantive term designating supreme authority over some polity. It is a basic principle underlying the dominant Westphalian model of state foundation. Derived from Latin through French souveraineté, its attainment and retention, in both Chinese and Westernculture, has traditionally been associated with certain moral imperatives upon any claimant.

I AM sovereign and so are YOU

We must become sovereign — once again. Take back YOUR Sovereignty and truly live! We must become Sovereign and take back our planet. We must become our own authority and stop giving over our decision making process to the dark governmental/corporations, manipulative parents, teachers, friends, spouses, ect. It is time for us to become sovereign….again.

  •  Consciously Creating Circumstances

We must keep in mind that every thought is Energy, a causal force that must immutably manifest a corresponding effect in accordance with the Principle of Causation of which The Law of Attraction is an aspect.

So every positive thought will attract a positive effect in the same direction and quality of the thought. Likewise every negative thought will manifest a negative causal effect in the same direction and quality of the thought. In addition, should that thought be a negative thought directed at another person, there will always be a karmic price to pay. There are no exceptions to these immutable principles.

Of course, transient, fleeting thoughts will only give rise to effects of comparative strength, while persistent thought, especially over a long period of time and charged with emotions will give rise to a much stronger and resilient effect, often manifesting into physical experiential reality.

RELATED: Thoughts are Things by Prentice Mulford

For these reasons we must always be mindful of our thoughts at all times. There are no excuses or reprieves for a “careless thought”, especially if directed at others.

Being Mindful of our thoughts involves developing absolute control over our thoughts, feelings and emotions, thereby consciously and mindfully steering the direction in which we wish our experience to go.

By knowing what we need, wish for and desire, and only allowing thoughts of the same nature into our consciousness, we can confidently chart our path though life without fear of “unexpected events“. To a person who has gained absolute control over their own Mind Power there are no surprises but rather a steady flow of expected, wished for and welcome effects that can be enjoyed.

All negative thoughts, particularly those that are not consistent with your needs wishes and desires must be instantly rejected, for example saying or thinking “cancel! cancel! cancel!” until they have dissipated, and can no longer exert an effect.

So in summary:

1. Know your wishes, needs and desires

2. Only allow thoughts that are consistent with these

3. Instantly “cancel!, cancel!, cancel!” all negative, contrary thoughts, immediately.

I will conclude with this very appropriate little verse:

I hold it true that thoughts are things; They’re endowed with bodies and breath and wings; And that we send them forth to fill The world with good results, or ill. That which we call our secret thought Speeds forth to earth’s remotest spot, Leaving its blessings or its woes Like tracks behind it as it goes. We build our future thought by thought, For good or ill, yet know it not. Yet, so the universe was wrought. Thought is another name for fate; Choose, then, thy destiny and wait, For love brings love and hate brings hate.

The Power Of Our Thoughts

By Carla B.

Quantum mechanics or Quantum Physics is the study of the behavior of matter and energy at the molecular, atomic and nuclear. Even space and time, which appear to be extremely continuous, have smallest possible values.

“Quantum physics is the science of possibility,” – Dr Amit Goswami

Quantum physics asserts that classical laws of physics do not always apply to the happenings observed at the quantum level. Many studies have shown that the actual position of matter changes continuously until a person gazes at it….whereas it temporarily takes a fixed position of the human eye that actually exists simultaneously in other locations. This is called The Law of Super Position, and it suggests that there is no such thing as an objective or universal reality. In other words our observation of reality changes reality. The experiment also implies that there are many uncertainties between the relationship of energy, time and space.

#Notables
All physical reality is made up of vibrations of energy. Your thoughts too are vibrations of energy. This is not a concept or theory, but rather the startling new reality that quantum physics now reveals to us. Your thoughts have a powerful influence; they affect what happens to you. To know this is to know something great. Most of us go through our waking hours taking little notice of our thought processes: how the mind moves, what it fears, what it heeds, what it says to itself, what it brushes aside. For the most part we eat, work, converse, worry, hope, plan, make love, shop, play, all with minimal attention paid to how we think. This is unfortunate, for we are neglecting one of the most important and powerful forces in our life.

Mind Power is directing your thoughts toward a desired outcome. Put simply, what you focus on you attract. Focus on success and you attract success. Focus on fear and failure and you attract failure. Mind Power is understanding these laws and making our thoughts work for us. Your thoughts are the primary creative forces in your life. Use them consciously and use them often and you will awaken to a whole new life of power and opportunity.

If you want to make changes in your life, you must look to the causes, and the causes are almost always the way you are using your mind — the way you are thinking. You cannot think both negative and positive thoughts at the same time. One or the other will dominate. The mind is a creature of habit, so it becomes each individual’s responsibility to make sure that positive emotions and thoughts constitute the dominating influence in their mind.

In order to change external conditions, you must first change the internal. Most people omit this step. They try to change external conditions by working directly on those conditions. This always proves futile, or at best temporary, unless it is accompanied by a change of thoughts and beliefs.

Awakening to this truth, the way to a better, more successful life becomes crystal clear. Train your conscious mind to think thoughts of success, happiness, health, prosperity, and to weed out negativity such as fear and worry. Keep your conscious mind busy with the expectation of the best, and make sure the thoughts you habitually think are based upon what you want to see happen in your life.

Water takes the shape of whatever container holds it, whether it be in a glass, a vase or a riverbank. Likewise, your mind will create and manifest according to the images you habitually think about in your daily thinking. This is how your destiny is created. A new life is created by new thoughts.

Breaking FREE From Mental Captivity: How Deep the Rabbit Hole Really Goes…

Sometimes You Have To FREE a People From The Prison Of Their Own Minds

Back in the eighties there was a hilarious comedy sketch series called The Real McCoy and one of my favorite clips was from Miss Rees (Miserys!) West Indian Restaurant.

In one scene, a customer sits down and waits for the waitress to take his order. She rolls her eyes, sucks her teeth and asks “Anyone here look like slaaave to you?”

This lady knew she was beholden to no-one and took it to the extreme. But on a serious note, I think there is an awful lot of modern day slavery going on it our heads.

SEE ALSO:  Is President Obama Intentionally Targeting Whistleblowers ?

As Jean Jacques Rousseau said “Man is born freebut everywhere he is in chains.” Of course, I am talking about psychological chains and as the apostle Peter said in 2 Pet 2: 191 “a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.”

What has mastered most of us? Ourselves. We have lied to ourselves about our lack of power and then forgotten that we believe a lie.

Lao Tzu said “He who conquers others is strong; he who conquers himself is mighty.  But I don’t see many people conquering themselves.

SEE ALSO:  Afghanistan Mission accomplished: more heroin for the world

In fact, every day I see and hear people (and I don’t exclude myself entirely from this group) thinking and acting like slaves – to their limitations. It’s as Henry Ford said “Argue for your limitations and you’ll be sure to get them!”

The problem is that we don’t know that we’re slaves, because our minds, like the Matrix, have “pulled a world over our eyes”. That world, as Professor Michael Hall would describe it is our personal matrix of frames (a blanket term for every mental phenomenon from beliefs to values) that generates the illusion.

Our beliefs act like trance inducers, convincing us of their rightness plus they also act as what NLP Master Robert Dilts calls ‘attractors’ in that, like magnets, they attract proof of their own rightness.

And as a result, King Solomon said 3000 years ago “every man is right in his own eyes” and humans haven’t really changed since then.(Proverbs 21:2)

So, we have a problem. We are seemingly stuck inside our own ‘reality’, thinking that it is Reality. And it’s only a small step (up) in our minds to come to believe that our beliefs are True (rather than fallible re-presentations of the world around us)

This, as Hall says, is the structure of fundamentalism, to believe that our beliefs are real rather than ‘maps of the territory’. I presume this is how people convince themselves to strap bombs to themselves and blow themselves up in crowded places. Or maybe it’s just to the convinced there is no need for convincing. Don’t bother me with the facts – I know what I believe…? And before anyone comments, this is a problem common to everyone, not just those with particular religious beliefs…!

This stance also prevents change. If my beliefs about my inability to ‘run my own brain’ (and break out of slavery to my desires) are REAL and even worse, this is who I am, then the whole thing adds up to a self-induced sense of bondage.

So can we step back from mental slavery?

We are blessed with the ability to step back from our thoughts. NLPr’s refer to this as taking perceptual positions but its simply the ability to reflect on what we were just thinking. And it’s not a special skill, you don’t it all the time, don’t you? (and if you asked “Do I?”, you just did it!) It’s part of your God-given meta-cognition.

What most people don’t realise is that stepping back from your thoughts brings several powerful processes into play.

First, you gain a mental position of power. You can now, like a king or queen of your domain, evaluate whether or not these thoughts serve you.

This is because when you go above or ‘meta’ to your thoughts you gain the ability to bring transformative resources to bear on the content of your previous thoughts. This is not collapsing anchors, it’s meta-stating and it’s what I use to radically change peoples’ lives whilst coaching them.

When people say they are stuck I know they are not ACTUALLY stuck, they have just believed themselves into a corner that they have no options.

I’m going to let you into one of the secrets of running your own brain.

You can always step back and question the belief you think you can’t question or change.

And that is one of the secrets to breakthrough change.

Find the taboo belief, the one that seems most real, most who you ‘are’ (and don’t like) and question it. This takes a willingness to question the felt realness of your ‘reality’.

I am reading a wonderful book called the Art of Spiritual Discernment and it talks about our modern concept of truth (which seems to be very relative and conveniently means no-one can actually tell you do anything unless it’s your truth – sounds like a recipe for world anarchy to me!) and the concept of Truth.

I do believe that Truth exists. And that the Truth will set you free. Even if you don’t believe there is an Ultimate Truth I can prove in a small way that truth (what is real) is very important to you.

Go into a shop and quietly ask the assistant to give your friend the wrong change. Then get the assistant to argue “there is no truth” so there is no true right or wrong change…and step back.

Truth is important for not getting killed. Don’t drink the bottle with the skull and crossbones on it. Stay off the motorway.

It is also TRUE that you can make your own decisions. And you don’t have to obey other people. I am not arguing for non-co-operation or pure stupidity but as my wife says “other people want you to change to suit them, but they don’t want to change to suit you”.

I am also not arguing for a world free from moral boundaries. I believe, actually, that when we know our boundaries in all areas we become more free to be creative and actualise our potential. Ask Edward De Bono, creator of Lateral Thinking. He shows us that in many cases to make a creative leap we have to have a limit to leap over….!

Budhha said: “…he, indeed, who would conquer himself is the noblest victor”

So are you ready to conquer yourself?

Annoyed at putting up with your rubbish for so long? Don’t get even, get mad. As I have written elsewhere on this site, psychological energy (read strong emotion) is necessary to break free from the attractors.

So here’s some questions to annoy you and get that energy going.

  • Ho much longer are you going to continue fighting for your right to be a slave?
  • How much longer are you going to insist on this slave mentality?
  • Why are you fighting so hard for your own weaknesses and lack of self-control?
  • When are you going to make a decision to take responsibility for your decisions?
